The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Hong Kong) (“SPCA”) is pleased to announce the “SPCA Summer Wellness Day” event on 24 August at the SPCA Jockey Club Centennial Centre in Tsing Yi. To make transportation more accessible for pet owners, a special pet-friendly circular double-deck bus route will be run by KMB, offering rides between Tsuen Wan West and Tsing Yi on the day.

Pet Bus Transportation Guidelines


Throughout this document, the term “pet(s)” refers to dogs and cats ONLY unless specifically mentioned.


Section 1: General Safety
Control and Restraint:
1.    Passengers are responsible for controlling and restraining their pets at all times.
2.    KMB and the SPCA (“The Organisers”) will not be held responsible for any injured or lost pets.
3.    KMB and the SPCA reserve the right to refuse entry to any person or pet(s) on the bus or to the event, and will request any person or pet(s) to leave the bus or the event if they refuse to follow the organiser’s rules and regulations.
4.    KMB and the SPCA reserves the right to the final decision making on all related matters.

Pet and Passenger Liability:
1.    Passengers will be held liable if their pets attack or harm other persons/pets.
2.    Please take care of all personal property. KMB and the SPCA will not be liable for any loss, damage, delay, inconvenience, direct or consequential loss.
3.    Passengers are advised to take out a valid insurance policies (including pet insurance) to cover any liability they may incur.
4.    Passengers understand that attendance of the event/bus journey is not without risk to people and pets who may attend, because some pets may be difficult to control, and may cause injury even when handled with the greatest care. 
5.    In case of pet injury, please call the SPCA Inspectorate on 2711-1000 for emergency assistance.

Pet Limitations:
1.    Each ticket permits one passenger and one pet to board the bus.
2.    Extra pets or passengers require additional tickets.

Passenger Responsibility:
1.    Passengers must be capable of controlling, restraining, and caring for their pets at all times.
2.    Passengers are fully responsible for their own safety, and the safety of their pets.
3.    All passengers are responsible for keeping the bus environment clean and hygienic. If their pet(s) soils the environment, the passenger is responsible to clean up immediately. If additional cleaning is required, an Excess Cleaning Fee of HKD 500 will apply.

Pet Health & Behaviour Measures:
1.    If a pet(s) may have an infectious disease, or a condition where travel and stress may be detrimental to their health, please be responsible and do not travel with them.
2.    Passengers should consider their individual pet's character and behaviour before choosing to travel. 

Boarding Procedure:
1.    All passengers must arrive 15 minutes before ticket time for Avid Chip scan and document check.
2.    All dogs will be required to be scanned for an AVID microchip as part of the boarding procedure.
3.    Please follow the instructions given by SPCA staff and volunteers when boarding the bus. To minimise stress pets will be designated to specific zones.
4.    There is a designated area for cats, which is located at the back of the bus on the upper deck.
5.    There is a buffer zone on the upper deck to ensure animals are separated, please do not occupy the buffer zone seats.
6.    To minimise stress and the possibility of conflict please keep a safe distance between passengers and their pets during boarding.
7.    When departing the bus from the upper deck, please mind the steps for your pet’s safety, and please be patient and disembark one by one.
8.    It is not allowed to stand during the journey. 


Section 2: Guidelines for Dogs:

Required Documents:
1.    Passengers with dogs must possess a valid dog license with proof of rabies vaccination and AVID microchip implantation.
2.    Passengers must possess a Vaccination Card showing proof of valid DHPPiL (1-5) vaccination.
3.    Passengers should retain these documents (in hard copy or digital form) for checking if required. 

Age Restriction:
1.    Dog under 5 months old are strictly prohibited.

Leash Policy:
1.    Dogs must be securely held on a leash or in a pet carrier at all times.
2.    Due to very limited space for storage, passengers are requested not to bring strollers or bulky items on to the bus. 
3.    Please keep the aisles clear at all times – do not allow pets or equipment to block the passageways.

Muzzles:
1.    All dogs are suggested to wear a muzzle for the duration of the journey (unless placed in a pet carrier) as a safety precaution, especially those over 20kg. 
2.    Please ensure if a muzzle is used it is of the basket variety which allows sufficient room for the dog to pant and air to circulate, to avoid heat stroke.


Section 3: Guidelines for Cats:
Required Documents:
1.    Cat owners must possess a Vaccination Card showing proof of valid FVRCP vaccination.
2.    Passengers should retain these documents (in hard copy or digital form) for checking if required. 

Transportation Policy:
1.    Cats must be securely held in a pet carrier at all times.

Age Restriction:
1.    Cats under 5 months old are strictly prohibited.

In the event of any inconsistency between versions of the terms and conditions, the English version shall prevail.
